Inxeption
During my 4+ years at Inxeption, I’ve worked on a large number of interesting projects. Some needed serious brainpower and problem-solving skills, while others were just plain fun. Here's a peek at a few things I've been up to:

Inxeption Checkout
Ship multiple shipments to multiple destinations
ROLE: Lead Designer
PLATFORM: Web, Desktop
Goals
Enable a new kind of shipping option applicable to individual sales channels: self-pickup vs the seller ships for you.
1. Buyer can split order into groups to be delivered on different days and/or to different locations.
2. Checkout app charges true shipping cost by intelligently breaking products up into shipments and querying our Inxeption shipping quote APIs to get real costs and pass them along to the buyer.
So far, no company has implemented this approach with industrial products. Typically, buyers pay for products upfront and shipping costs separately, which often leads to unexpected expenses and dissatisfaction with the shipping process due to unforeseen additional fees. This prototype marks the initial effort to automate shipping quotes, aiming to minimize surprises and streamline the shipping experience.
Research
I started my approach by doing some visual research. Though Inxeption is an industrial level shipping platform, I wanted to get a sense of how sites like Amazon and other commerce companies handled multi-address origins and destinations.
Wireframes and setting up the necessary pages
Based on our existing checkout flow, I started to lay out the necessary pages into two checkout flows:
Buyer-Simple: For buyers opting to either pick up the order themselves or have it shipped to one location on a single date.
Buyer-Complex: For those shipping to multiple locations or on multiple dates.
In addition to these buyer flows, I outlined the changes required on the sellers' or commerce partners' (CP) side. These adjustments to the buyer flow would mean needing to add a new shipment settings section to the seller channel details page. This addition will enable buyers on that channel to view and select from these shipping options.
Requirements and key points to consider
The buyer must be able to add as many shipment groups as they wish, provided they have sufficient items in their cart to allocate across these groups.
The order summary will be continuously changing as they add/change their shipment group addresses, as the shipping fees and taxes will vary based on the entered address.
The system should allow users to remove a shipment group, but it must require that at least one shipment group is always present.
The order summary should dynamically update as buyers add or modify their shipment group addresses because shipping fees and taxes will vary depending on the entered address. We need to give the buyer an accurate total cost calculation.
Should buyers be prompted to provide delivery location information upfront during the checkout flow, or should they be asked to fill out this information after completing their order?
Final prototype
I chose to have buyers provide this information during the checkout process for a more streamlined experience. I collaborated with the PM to minimize the number of form fields required to process orders, aiming to avoid cluttering the flow with additional forms sent after order confirmation.
Below is just one page from the buy flow prototype, which shows an example of 3 different ship to locations.
